NORWARK -- The Orange Coast College men's tennis team saw its season come to an end with an 8-1 loss to Cerritos in the Southern California Regional quarterfinals on Tuesday, but for some Pirate players, there's still a ton of tennis left to be played.
For the Pirates (12-6 overall), Kevin Tran picked up OCC's lone win with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Cerritos opponent David Sim. The win improves the Falcons' record to 17-1.
On the individual side, there's still plenty of work to be done for the Pirates. Some of the sophomores will be making their way up north for the Ojai Invitational this weekend to take on some of the best players in the state.
Also, singles standout Gio Villicana and three Pirate doubles teams -- Tran and Pat Lam, Villicana and Landon Draper and Kevin Kordestani and Andy Ong -- have qualified as individuals for the Southern California Regionals, set for May 1-3 at Riverside College.
