Women's Tennis: Pirates pull out 5-3 win over Bakersfield in SoCal Regional Semifinals

WOMEN’S TENNIS -- In one of the toughest matches of the season, the Orange Coast College women’s tennis team remained alive in the Southern California Dual Team Tennis Championships with a 5-3 semifinal win over visiting Bakersfield on Tuesday.
The top four singles players each earned victories for the Pirates (18-0) as Brittany Bass (6-2, 7-5), Brittnie Furuvald (6-0, 6-0) and Evelyn Wallace (6-4, 6-3) each earned straight-set wins. Kalin Eshelman earned a hard-fought three-set victory, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 over BC’s Sarena Dickerson.
In doubles, Bass and Furuvald swept their way to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Katie O’Leary and Jennifer Kelly.
With the win, the top-seeded Pirates will compete in the Southern California Regional Finals against the winner of Cuesta and Grossmont on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at OCC.
