Baseball: Times set for regional playoff with Long Beach City
Monday, May 05, 2008

COSTA MESA -- The times have been set for this weekend's Southern California Regional baseball matchup between Orange Coast and Long Beach City colleges.

Friday's best-of-three opener between the third-seeded Pirates (30-13-1) and the 14th-seeded Vikings (26-18) will take place at 2 p.m. at OCC's Wendell Pickens Field. Other regional games will begin at 3 p.m., but both coaches have agreed to the earlier starting time.

"I think they start the games at 3 just in case a team from San Diego has to play up in L.A. or vice-versa," OCC head coach John Altobelli said. "But I talked to the Long Beach coach (Casey Crook) and since our schools are pretty close together, we'd start at 2 p.m."

Saturday's action will begin at 11 a.m. at Pickens Field. If a third game is needed, it will be played on Saturday as well.

For those who can't watch the action in person, the games will be broadcasted on LBCC's radio station, KLBC. Log on to www.klbc.org for more information on their broadcasting schedule.
