Women's Volleyball: Pirates open with sweep over Cerritos

NORWALK -- Led by the 1-2 punch of sophomore Jessica Brown and freshman Briana Fields, the Orange Coast College women's volleyball team opened the 2008 season with a convincing 25-8, 25-5, 25-19 win over host Cerritos College on Wednesday night.
Brown and Fields combined for 14 kills, three blocks and a service in the win for the Pirates (1-0).
Angelica Seivers led Cerritos (0-1) with 13 digs and Sarah Naranjo contributed five kills.
OCC returns to action on Friday, Sept. 12 at Glendale, beginning at 6 p.m. The Pirates open their home schedule on Wednesday, Sept. 17 against Southwestern, beginning at 5 p.m..
