COSTA MESA -- A couple of unlucky bounces and the Orange Coast College women's soccer team watched its five-game win streak come to an end with a 2-0 conference loss to visiting Cypress on Friday.
With the game scoreless, the Pirates (7-5-3, 5-3-1 in Orange Empire Conference) watched the Chargers (10-2-4, 6-1-2) notch a pair of goals eight minutes apart to take control of things.
In the 62nd minute, Amanda LoBello picked up a loose ball off a free kick and slipped a shot past a pack of Pirates into the back of the net for a 1-0 Chargers advantage.
On a corner kick, Juliane Adams made it 2-0 when she found an opening off a rebound.
Pirates' goalkeeper Caitlin Schott made five saves, while Chargers' netminder Whitney Joslin made two saves, including a nice diving effort early in the game to keep the Pirates off the scoreboard.
OCC returns to action on Tuesday at Santiago Canyon, beginning at 3 p.m. The Pirates return home on Friday to host Riverside, also at 3 p.m.
