Women's Volleyball: Pirates sweep past Gauchos

MISSION VIEJO -- Freshman middle blocker Briana Fields had a team-high 11 kills to lead the Orange Coast College women's volleyball team to a 25-11, 25-17, 25-10 Orange Empire Conference victory over host Saddleback on Friday night.
It was a well-balanced offense for the Pirates (14-3, 6-3 in conference). Freshman opposite Karlee Skalla came through with nine assists, sophomore outside hitter Jessica Bodkin added seven kills and sophomore MB Christina Richards contributed six kills.
Freshman libero Amanda Cheseborough anchored the defense with 15 digs, while sophomore setter Emily Lyon dished out 31 assists.
OCC returns to action on Wednesday at home against Cypress, beginning at 7 p.m.
