Women's Basketball: Pirates fall to Mt. San Jacinto, 60-58

SAN JACINTO -- A late second-half comeback came up just short for the Orange Coast College women's basketball team as the Pirates fell to Mt. San Jacinto 60-58 on Thursday night in nonconference action.
OCC (3-1) trailed 30-20 at the half and 13 with just over six minutes remaining in the game before making a strong run to the finish line, cutting the deficit to two with 58 seconds left.
However, a missed 1-and-1 free-throw opportunity and a couple of late points by the hosts ended the rally and gave the Pirates their first loss of the season.
Casey Gomez led Coast with 16 points, while Jenna Lujan and Chelsea Alfafara each added 10.
OCC returns to action on Wednesday at San Diego Mesa, beginning at 6 p.m. The Pirates open their home schedule on Friday, Nov. 28 at the OCC Crossover against Mira Costa, beginning at 7 p.m.
