SAN DIEGO -- The Orange Coast College women's basketball team improved to 4-1 for the season with a 54-39 nonconference win over San Diego Mesa on Wednesday night.
It was a rough night of shooting for the Pirates, hitting just 18-of-57 from the floor (31.6 percent). But thanks to OCC's relentless defensive pressure, Coast was about to outscore Mesa (0-4) 26-6 off of turnovers and 13-4 on second-chance points.
Jenna Lujan led the Pirates with 13 points, six rebounds and three steals, while Simone Ibbotson added 11 points and four rebounds.
The Pirates will make their first appearance at the Peterson Gym on Friday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. against Mira Costa at the OCC Crossover. Prior to that game, Santa Ana College will take on San Bernardino Valley College at the Peterson Gym at 5 p.m.
