Men's Golf: Pirates open season strong at Tee-Off Classic

CHINO HILLS -- The Orange Coast College men's golf team opened the 2008 season with a strong effort at the two-round, 2009 Tee-Off Classic, held at Los Seranos Golf Course on Monday and Wednesday.
The Pirates shot a two-day total of 734, good enough for second place, trailing tourney winner Palomar (730). Cypress finished third with a 744.
Top scorers for the Pirates include Marcus Sostak-Rosa (142), Florencio Anadon (145), Albert Kilgore (147), Ryan Indovina (148), Joe Doody (152) and Jeff Appelbaum (165).
The shot of the event came by Doody at the sixth hole on Wednesday when he dropped in his tee shot with a 5-iron from 170 yards out for his first-ever hole-in-one.
OCC returns to action on Friday, Feb. 13 at the Rio Hondo Classic, played at California Country Club, beginning at 10 a.m.
