OCC to host memorial service for fallen player

COSTA MESA -- Orange Coast College will host a memorial service for redshirt sophomore catcher Jourdan Watanabe on Sunday at 3 p.m. on the school's baseball field, according to head coach John Altobelli.
Food and drinks will be provided for the event as hundreds of friends and family members are anticipated to be in attendance for the service. Attendees are asked to bring blankets or beach chairs to sit in the grass at Wendell Pickens Field.
Watanabe, a standout player for the Pirates in 2008, died in Irvine early Friday morning at the age of 20.
More information on the service will be given as soon as it becomes available.
