Track and Field: Pirates roll past Fullerton, Santiago Canyon

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College men's and women's track and field teams topped several events en route to a pair of dual meet wins over Fullerton and Santiago Canyon on Friday.

On the men's side, OCC topped Fullerton 113-41 and Santiago Canyon 149-5, while on the women's side, OCC cruised to wins over Fullerton 106-48 and SCC 148-6.
 
For the OCC women, multiple winners include Andrea Guerra (1,500 and 3,000), Brianna Vanderwal (400 hurdles, high jump, long jump), Danielle Morton (triple jump, javelin throw). Other wins for the Pirate women include Kimone Hewitt in the 800, Lisa Dolan in the pole vault, Caitlin Schott in the discus and Riki delaPuente in the shot put.
 
For the OCC men, multiple winners were earned by Eric Grunbaum in the shot put, discus and hammer throw. Other first-place winners include Stephan Ruby in the javelin, Trevor Carroll in the 400, Luis Gallardo III in the 800, Russell Westphal in the 3,000, Donovan Toban in the 110 hurdles, Justin Rovin in the 400 hurdles, Caleb Monticalvo in the pole vault and the 400- and 1,600-meter relay teams.

OCC will compete at Cerritos College on Tuesday at 9 a.m. before competing in a dual meet at Riverside College on Friday at 2 p.m.
