Swimming: Pirates cruise past Fullerton

COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College men's and women's swim teams made quick work of visiting Fullerton College on Friday, topping the Hornets, 181-80 on the women's side and 157-65 on the men's side. For the OCC women, first-place performances were turned in by Maddison Martin in the 100-yard freestyle (59.02 seconds), Michelle Kirkpatrick in the 100 butterfly (1:02.5) and 500 freestyle (5:25.21), Sam Lane in the 100 individual medley (1:10.5), Jamie Pearce in the 200 IM (2:18.72), Danielle Lavery in the 100 backstroke (1:03.5), Natalie Bell in the 50 butterfly (27.2), the Pirates' 200 medley relay (2:03.67) and OCC's 200 free relay (1:46.59). For the Coast men, top marks include Andrew Lindsey in the 1,000 freestyle (10:05.01), Kyle Thorsness in the 200 free (1:50.49), Eric Crimson in the 200 IM (2:00.8), Chris Bernard in the 200 fly (2:10.17), Kawai Smith in the 200 back (2:02.65), Kirk Pfotenhauer in the 500 free (4:57.49), Josh Torchia in the 200 breast (2:25.99), OCC's 400 free relay (3:23.91) and the OCC 400 medley relay (3:50.18). The Pirates return to the OCC pool on Friday when they host rival Golden West, beginning at noon.
