CYPRESS -- The Orange Coast College men's tennis team fought hard against powerhouse Cypress, but the Pirates still came up short in a 6-3 Orange Empire Conference loss on Thursday.
The Pirates (10-5, 4-4 in OEC) pulled out a pair of three-set victories in singles, then used a tiebreaker to prevail in one doubles match.
Brad Fisher, OCC's No. 2 singles player, used a strong start and finish to top Cypress' Corey Parker, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1. That type of performance was matched at No. 6 singles by Nick Stuart in his 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 win over Charger Greg Druckenmiller.
Fisher then paired up with Yannick Lepage and edged out Ben Thompson-Star and Toby Landucci, 9-8 (4) in doubles.
OCC will return to action on Tuesday, April 7 at home against Irvine Valley, beginning at 2 p.m.
