COSTA MESA -- The Orange Coast College softball team put up a strong fight against visiting L.A. Harbor, but a seventh-inning rally came up just short in a 3-2 loss on Friday.
Trailing 3-1 in the seventh, OCC got things going when Candice Arevalo opened with a single to left. After an infield pop fly, Lindsay McCue-Locke (2-for-3, one run, one RBI) came through with a single to center, moving Arevalo to second.
A fielder's choice retired Arevalo at third for the second out, but Madelyn Page ripped a shot that deflected off of Seahawks' third baseman, which allowed McCue-Locke to score and moved the tying run to third.
But the next OCC hitter was retired on a flyout, leaving the Pirates a run short.
Kayse Potter had two hits and Sarah Munson added a triple and a run scored for Coast.
Munson was also solid as a pitcher for OCC. She went the distance and allowed just three runs (two earned) on six hits, walking three and striking out two.
The Pirates return to action on Wednesday at home against Cypress in an Orange Empire Conference matchup, beginning at 3 p.m.
