FULLERTON -- It was back to the "win" column for the Orange Coast College baseball team, thanks to a 10-2 Orange Empire Conference win over Fullerton on Tuesday.
Brett Wallach improved to 6-1 with his seven-inning gem. The sophomore righty allowed just one earned run on seven hits, walking three and striking out three. Brett Williams threw the final two innings to close things out.
At the plate, Mykal Stokes went 3-for-6 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Scott Hong and D.J. Arellano each added a hit and two RBI, while Drew Hillman and Ryan Sheeks combined for four hits, three runs and two RBI.
Stokes' home run, his third of the season, capped off a three-run fourth inning and it gave the Pirates (27-10, 15-4 in OEC) a 5-1 lead.
An RBI double by Hillman and an RBI single by Hong in the sixth pushed the lead up to 7-1. Fullerton (13-23-1, 6-13) added a run to make it 7-2 before OCC closed out the game with three runs in the ninth. A two-run double by Arellano and an RBI triple by Sheeks highlighted the final frame for the Pirates.
The win, coupled with Cypress' 3-1 loss to Saddleback, gives the Pirates a two-game lead in the OEC standings.
Coast plays at home on Thursday against Golden West, beginning at 2 p.m.
