Women's Tennis: Bass/Boyer advance to state semifinals

SACRAMENTO -- The doubles team of Brittany Bass and Melissa Boyer continue to climb up the playoff bracket and with a pair of Day 1 wins on Friday at the CCCAA Women's State Tennis Championships, the OCC duo has advanced to the state semifinals.
Bass and Boyer opened Round of 16 play against Amp Lepp and Amy Busch from Reedley College and won, 6-0, 6-1.
From there, the Pirate pair advanced to the quarterfinals, where they defeated Northern California's top-seeded duo of Pria Prasad and Amy Lutran of De Anza College, 6-2, 6-1.
Bass and Boyer will compete for a shot at the state finals on Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m. at Natomes Racquet Club.
In singles action, Bass again made life tough for the NorCal's top seed, defeating De Anza's Prasad, 6-4, 6-3.
But in the quarterfinals, Bass' season came to an end with a 7-5, 6-4 loss to Cuesta's Chloe Redman, giving the OCC sophomore a top-eight finish in the state.
