Men's Water Polo: Pirates take third at GWC Tournament

HUNTINGTON BEACH -- The Orange Coast College men's water polo team finished third this weekend at the nine-team Golden West Tournament, opening with a pair of wins and closing with a pair of losses.
On Friday, OCC (2-2) opened things with a 9-5 win over Mt. San Antonio and followed that with an 11-9 triumph over Riverside. On Saturday, Coast was the wrong end of pair of scores, falling to host Golden West 18-6 and Long Beach City 11-7.
Kyle Thorseness led the Pirates' offense with seven goals in the four-game tourney, while Casey Sullivan added six and Shardad Djahangiry contributed four.
OCC will open Orange Empire Conference action on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Santa Ana College.
