Women's Volleyball: Pirates pick up two wins on the road

SAN BERNARDINO -- The Orange Coast College women's volleyball team picked up a pair of nonconference road wins before opening Orange Empire Conference play on Friday.
The Pirates topped San Bernardino Valley 25-12, 25-12, 25-21 on Friday before sweeping past Southwestern 25-8, 25-19, 25-11 on Wednesday, improving to 6-0 overall.
In the win over SBVC, Poerava Gantt and Karlee Skall each had 11 kills to lead the offense, while Amanda Cheseborough and Khrystlin Santos combined for 25 digs. Setters Kimya Jafroudi and Catherine Cameron each had 15 assists.
Against the Jaguars, Briana Fields led the way with 13 kills and 12 digs, while libero Nikki Osuna added 13 digs. Jafroudi paced the offense with 25 assists.
OCC returns to action on Friday at Saddleback College in the OEC opener before returning to the Peterson Gym on Wednesday against Golden West. Both matches are set for 6 p.m.
