Women's Volleyball: Pirates open conference play by sweeping Saddleback

MISSION VIEJO -- Poerava Gantt had 15 kills and 21 digs to lead the Orange Coast College women's volleyball team to a 25-23, 25-20, 25-22 road win over Saddleback on Friday to open Orange Empire Conference action.
Nikki Osuna edged out Gantt in the digs department, leading Coast with 22, while Karlee Skalla chipped in seven kills and Briana Fields added four kills and two solo blocks.
Distributing the offense was freshman setter Kimya Jafroudi, who had 30 assists.
The Pirates (7-0, 1-0 in OEC) will return to action on Wednesday at home against rival Golden West, beginning at 6 p.m.
