Women's Volleyball: Pirates pull out five-game win at Cypress

CYPRESS -- After a tough four-game loss to Golden West, the Orange Coast College women's volleyball team returned to the win column with a hard-fought five-game win over Cypress on Friday in Orange Empire Conference action.
Led by 17 kills and 25 digs from Poerava Gantt, the Pirates pulled out a 25-18, 13-25, 25-15, 20-25, 15-12 win at Cypress College.
Briana Fields added 13 kills, while Rachel Freeno added 12 kills and 14 digs.
Libero Nikki Osuna continued her fine play, anchoring the defense with 24 digs, while setter Kimya Jafroudi dished out 36 assists.
The Pirates (8-1, 2-1 in OEC) will return to action on Wednesday at Riverside College before returning to the Peterson Gym on Friday against conference rival Irvine Valley. Both matches are set to begin at 6 p.m.
