SANTA ANA -- Despite a sluggish start to the season, on Tuesday, the Santa Ana Dons reminded the first-place Orange Coast College Pirates that the road to the Orange Empire Conference title still runs through SAC country.
The 15-time OEC champs took care of business and topped the red-hot Pirates 2-0 at Santa Ana College, snapping Coast's four-game conference win streak.
OCC goalkeeper Brian Rippeto notched five saves, including a couple of point-blank stops, but it wasn't enough as a pair of first-half goals by Adrian Negrete proved to be the difference.
The Pirates (7-5, 4-1 in OEC) will return to action on Friday at home against Fullerton, beginning at 3 p.m.
