CHULA VISTA - The Orange Coast College women's soccer team is eagerly awaiting its home opener on Wednesday, but not after a very strong road run to start the season.
Capping off a 2-1 "road trip" the Pirates cruised past host Southwestern College 4-0 on Tuesday.
Nicole Huff had two goals and an assist, while Rachel Ronquillo added a goal and an assist for OCC. Ashley Boyer added another goal for the Pirates, while Loren Kortizija added an assist.
Ronquillo got the scoring barrage underway with a goal in the game's 10th minute, giving OCC a 1-0 lead that held firm for the entire first half.
Early in the second half, Boyer made it 2-0 off an assist from Huff, who then scored the game's final two goals in the 67th and 87th minute, respectively.
That was more than enough offense for Pirate goalkeeper Katie Johnson, who posted two saves in preserving the shutout win.
OCC's home opener will take place on Wednesday at 4 p.m. against Cerritos. The home cooking will continue on Friday against Long Beach, beginning at 3 p.m.
