Women's volleyball opens title defense with sweep over Pasadena

PASADENA -- Kiwi Winkler had 12 kills, while Jacqui Reed added 10 to lead the defending state champion Orange Coast College women’s volleyball team to a 30-7, 30-17, 30-19 season opening win over host Pasadena City on Friday in nonconference action.
Ashlee Moon added six aces for the Pirates, while Chelsea Spadoro paced the attack with 20 assists. Defensively, Ashlee Moon picked up 10 digs.
The loss drops Pasadena to 0-2. The win extends OCC's match unbeaten streak to 27.
The Pirates will return to action Saturday at Glendale, beginning at 2 p.m. OCC’s home opener will take place on Wednesday against Long Beach City, beginning at 6 p.m.
