COSTA MESA - It's pretty fair to say that the Orange Coast College women's soccer team didn't look past Tuesday's contest with Fullerton as the big showdown with Cypress looms on Friday. With two-goal performances by Kaitlyn Schuesler, Kelli Galligan and Courtney Hanson, the Pirates steamrolled past the visiting Hornets 10-2 to improve their Orange Empire Conference record to 3-0 (6-2 overall). "It was a nice game for us because it allowed us to get a lot of players some action and that will give us fresher legs for practice as we prepare for Cypress," OCC head coach Kevin Smith said. "I really like the way we're playing right now." Stacey Shoop, Ashley Boyer and Kelli Fresenius each added a goal and an assist, while Nicole Huff also notched a goal for the Pirates, winners of four straight. Rachel Ronquillo contributed two assists, while Diana Johnson, Melissa Weisz and Lauren Spadoni each had one assist. The goals came early and often for the Pirates as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Hornets (2-3, 1-2) managed to score on a goal by Stefani Orr, assisted by Jessica Castillo. Castillo would later add a goal for the Hornets, but it was too little, too late as OCC built an 8-1 advantage by then. Pirate goalkeeper Katie Johnson had seven saves in the win. Hornet keepers Emily Tielrooy and Antonia Hinojos combined for 13 saves. Coast will take on the Chargers on Friday at Cypress, beginning at 3 p.m.
