COSTA MESA - While it may have lacked the usual flair and beauty, the end result still remained the same.
The Orange Coast College women's volleyball team notched their 32nd straight win on Friday night with a four-game win over visiting San Diego City, 30-9, 30-13, 16-30, 30-10, in nonconference action. Kiwi Winkler led the Pirates (6-0) with 10 kills and seven digs, while Jacqi Reed added nine kills and Jennifer Chiffer chipped in eight. Defensively, Ashlee Moon added seven kills, while setter Chelsea Spadaro dished out 21 assists. After the Pirates dominated the Knights (1-4) in the first two games, the OCC reserves had a hard time in Game 3 as San Diego City prevailed behind seven kills for Kelly Kaiser and five blocks from Sammy Werner. But with most of the starters back on the court for Game 4, it was business as usual for the Pirates. With the score 11-8, OCC turned the lights with a 19-2 run to close out the contest. OCC returns to action on Wednesday night at home against Southwestern, beginning at 6 p.m.
