Pirates' Crowell earns Player of the Week honors

Orange Coast College quarterback Kekoa Crowell (pictured below), Palomar College cornerback Jeremy Pires, and Mt. San Antonio College kicker Jeremy Gener have been named Week 4 Mission Football Conference Players of the Week for their performances on the field.
 Crowell (QB, 6-1, 180, So., Kauai, HI) threw four touchdowns passes in Orange Coast’s 42-29 win over Pasadena to earn offensive player of the week honors. Crowell completed 16 of 22 passes with no interceptions. He also had one catch for 18 yards.
Pires (CB, 6-2, 185, So., San Diego/Mira Mesa HS) single-handedly kept five points off the scoreboard in Palomar’s 41-35 loss to Santa Ana. Pires blocked three kicks (1 field goal, 2 PAT kicks), broke up a pass, and totaled 8 tackles (4 solo) to be named defensive player of the week.
Gener (K, 5-10, 165, FR, Bishop Amat HS) nailed field goals of 42, 47, and 36 yards, including two in overtime, to pick up special teams player of the week honors. He also booted three kickoffs for touchbacks as Mt. San Antonio beat El Camino 42-39 in triple overtime.
