COSTA MESA - The Orange Coast College men's soccer team did just about everything BUT score a goal on Tuesday as the visiting Cypress Chargers held on for a 1-0 Orange Empire Conference win at the OCC Soccer Complex.
The game's lone goal came in the 18th minute when Cypress forward Marvin Gordon send a nice cross pass toward the goal, where it was met by the head of Pedro Ochoa, who knocked the ball past OCC goalkeeper Alex Torres.
After a sluggish first half, the Pirates (5-5-1, 1-2-0 in conference) picked up the tempo and controlled most of the action, but could find the equalizer. Thanks to a few nice saves by Charger goalkeeper Giovanni Guzman and some help from the goal's crossbar, the Pirates came up a goal short.
Torres finished with seven saves for the Pirates, while Guzman racked up five for Cypress (3-3-3, 1-1-1).
OCC returns to action on Friday at home against Irvine Valley, beginning at 3 p.m.
