Women's soccer ties with Saddleback, 2-2

Saddleback and Orange Coast played to a 2-2 draw on Friday, in Orange Empire Conference action at Saddleback College.
Allie Nelson put OCC on the scoreboard early with a long-range shot to the top of the net from the left side. Saddleback answered back as Chantal Sanchez (Dana Hills HS) scored on a pass from Nikki Cummings (Torrey Pines HS) to knot the score at 1-1.
Orange Coast regained the lead just three minutes later on a second goal by Nelson, but Saddleback was able to answer before the end of the first half on a goal by Cummings. Megan Knight assisted Cummings on the scoring play.
Saddleback had two breakaway opportunities to add go-ahead goals, but Pirate goalkeeper Katie Johnson came out of the penalty box to force an early shot attempt both times with Saddleback’s shots rolling just wide of the post. Johnson did not record any saves in the contest.
Saddleback goalkeeper Melisa Campagna (Dana Hills HS) posted 10 saves.
