Did you know that the library offers workshops for students on library and information research skills and that the second series of workshops will be offered soon? Did you know that the librarians teach the same information in these workshops that we teach in our lectures to classes, but that the students may just drop in? Would it benefit your students to attend a library workshop? Would you offer extra-credit to a student who attends one?
The second series of library student workshops will be offered next month. Please mark your calendars and please encourage your students to attend one of the following workshops:
- November 17, 9 to 10 a.m.
- November 17, 2 to 3 p.m.
- November 18, 11 to 12 p.m.
- November 18, 6 to 7 p.m.
- November 19, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. (on MLA Citing only!)
These 60-minutes workshops, held in the library’s lecture room, will focus on the process of doing basic library and information research using print and electronic resources, with special emphasis on accessing quality or authoritative resources and on correctly citing these resources to avoid plagiarism. Students’ evaluations of past library workshops have indicated that they learned something new that they feel will help them in their future assignments.
Knowing how to do library and information research effectively and efficiently in this Information Age is vital to student success. The OCC Library is here to help. Information about all the library's instructional services, including the workshops, can be obtained from our web page at:
