The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) offers support and resources for persons diagnosed with a mental illness including bi-polar or depression. Bi-polar disorder affects between 1.2% and 2.5% of the U.S. population. NAMI offers links to local support agencies that can assist the individual with bi-polar disorder and their families to cope with this illness. In addition, NAMI has a Veterans Resource Center on their web site with resources for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury and homelessness. For more information, visit their web site at www.nami.org.
