OCC EXTENDED EDUCATION OFFERS READING CLASSES FOR KIDS, ADULTS

Kids College, with a variety of classes in reading and phonics sponsored by OCC Extended Education, begins this week. Eight different programs focus on reading skills for children age 4 through high school.

Youngsters will learn phonics and reading readiness in a class starting Nov. 7th through Dec. 12th, for children age 4 through kindergarten. The class meets on Saturdays from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Fee is $258.

Children in first grade can take phonics from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while a class for second graders meets from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Fee is $323.

Students in third grade can take fluency to develop strong comprehension and word decoding needed to read longer books. The class meets from 3:30 to 5:30 from Nov. 7th through Dec. 12th. A similar class for fourth and fifth graders will meet Fridays, Nov. 6th to Dec. 11th, from 4:00 to 6:15 p.m. Class fee is $323.

Speed reading will be offered for students in 6th to 8th grades on Sundays, Nov. 8th to Dec.13th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Classes for 9th to 11th graders will meet Sundays, Nov. 8th to Dec.13th, from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. High school seniors, college students and adults can enroll in a speed reading class from Nov. 8th to Dec. 13th from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Fee is $323.
