What is Supplemental Instruction?
Supplemental Instruction (also known as SI) is a series of weekly review sessions for students taking historically difficult courses. SI is provided for all students in the class who want to improve their understanding of course material and improve their grades.
Attendance at sessions gives you a chance to get together with people in your class to compare notes, to discuss important concepts, to develop strategies for studying the subject, and to test yourselves before your professor does, so that when he/she does, you'll be ready. At each session you will be guided through this material by your SI leader, a competent student who has previously taken the course.
How do I find out which classes have an SI Group?
Check the schedule of classes before registering. Classes that include and SI group will have additional information. Also, look for boxes titled "Student Success Programs" in the course schedule under the specific subject that will lists the classes with SI groups. For more information contact the Student Success Center at 714-432-5559, or stop in under the blue clock tower.
