Financial Aid Loan Counseling Requirements
Students who are requesting loans must complete the counseling sessions listed below - all of these sessions are online and available 24/7 at http://orangecoastcollege.fatvcounseling.com/cms/register .
Direct Loan Applicants - Subsidized Loans
Financial Literacy - three sessions
Direct Loan Entrance Counseling
Direct Loan Exit Counseling - must be completed before you receive the second disbursement.
Direct Loan Applicants un-Subsidized Loans
- Financial Literacy - three sessions
- In-depth Loan Counseling - two sessions
- Direct Loan Entrance Counseling
- Direct Loan Exit Counseling - must be completed before you receive the second disbursement.
Perkins Loan Applicants
- Financial Literacy - three sessions
- In-depth Loan Counseling - two sessions
- Perkins Loan Entrance Counseling
- Perkins Loan Exit Counseling - must be completed before you receive the second disbursement
Counseling Access
Once you have completed the Direct Loan Counseling Sessions above, you will need to complete the following:
Department of Education Direct Stafford Loan Entrance and Exit sessions.
1. Stafford Direct Loan Entrance session at:

2. Stafford Direct Loan Exit session at:
http://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA/
3. Complete the electronic Master Promissory Note at:
https://studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan/index.action
Print out the MPN for your records. Do not bring a paper copy into the Financial Aid Office - we will receive an electronic copy from the Department of Education.
