Environmental Sciences
Programs in the Environmental Sciences are interdisciplinary in nature and are designed for students who have environmental or energy problem solving as a professional goal. They create an awareness of the kind and scope of environmental problems and prepare people to analyze, do research in and solve these problems. Programs emphasize broad and comprehensive training in the elementary fundamentals of math, physics, chemistry and biology, and in those areas of social science directly related to environmental questions. On some campuses, the Environmental Sciences programs are included with courses in environmental planning, landscape architecture, landscape management, or park and recreation administration, while at others they are separate entities.
A degree in Environmental Science allows students to specialize in either the environmental aspects of physical or biological science. The training is for those students who wish to acquire an in-depth understanding of the impact of science and technology on society, and who wish to contribute to the solution of environmental problems.
