Tutor Referrals

We are always looking for good tutors and your classroom is our best resource.  Please encourage math students who would be an asset to the Success Center to apply for a tutoring position.

Tutor Training

All new hires are required their first semester to enroll in a 1 unit tutor training class taught here in the Success Center.  In addition there are  breakout sessions for specific content training.  If you would like to participate as a trainer during a content session please contact Debbie at draskin@occ.cccd.edu to make the arrangements.

Instructional Arranged Services

• Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS): PASS provides regularly scheduled, out-of-class, peer facilitated sessions.  Sessions are open to all students in the class and are attended on a voluntary basis.  The PASS leader attends class and leads the group sessions. • Weekly Student Workshops: If you are not using the PASS program and a group of students in your class express an interest in meeting weekly with a tutor we can accommodate this in the Math Center.  Survey your class to find 2 – 3 acceptable days/times they could attend a Workshop and contact Debbie Raskin with the information.  We ask for a commitment from 4 or more students.
