A three-unit course that introduces the study of religion as an academic discipline will be offered this spring by Orange Coast College's Religious Studies Department.
Spring semester classes begin on Monday, Feb. 2.
Titled "Philosophy of Religion," and listed as Religious Studies 115 in OCC's schedule, the class meets Thursday evenings, from 6:30-9:40 p.m.
The course examines the role of philosophy in shaping theological doctrine, in proving the existence of God, in evaluating religious experience, and in considering the implication of atheism and the existence of evil.
The course is fully transferrable to the University of California and California State University systems.
Spring registration is under way, and registration appointments are available in OCC's Admissions Office. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
OCC's spring enrollment fees are $18 per unit. The spring schedule is listed on the college's Internet web page (orangecoastcollege.com). The printed schedule is available in the Admissions Office.
