A three-unit introductory machine shop class will be offered this spring by Orange Coast College's Machine Technology Department.
Spring semester classes begin on Monday, Feb. 2.
Listed as Machine Technology 100 in OCC's schedule, two sections of the class are slated. Both sections meet Monday evenings, from 7-9:25 p.m., and Wednesdays, from 7-10 p.m.
The course familiarizes students with the basics of machine shop safety practices; common non-precision and precision-measuring tools; hand tools; simple blueprint reading; and simple lathe, mill and drill press operations.
The course is fully transferrable to the California State University system.
Spring registration is under way, and registration appointments are available in OCC's Admissions Office. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
OCC's spring enrollment fees are $18 per unit. The spring schedule is listed on the college's Internet web page (orangecoastcollege.com). The printed schedule is available in the Admissions Office.
