A four-unit course that teaches basic rules of furniture design and production will be offered this spring by Orange Coast College's Construction Technology Department.
Spring semester classes begin on Monday, Jan. 30.
Listed as Construction Technology 116AD in OCC's schedule, two sections of the course are slated. One meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 8:30-11:40 a.m., and the other is set for the same evenings, from 6-9:10 p.m.
The course places an emphasis on wood selection, hand tool use, and a review of woodworking machinery. Advanced students will design and build more complex furniture pieces using advanced techniques.
The course is fully transferable to the California State University system.
Spring registration is under way, and registration appointments are available in OCC's Admissions Office. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to
6:30 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
OCC's spring enrollment fees are $26 per unit. The spring schedule is listed on
the college's Internet web page (orangecoastcollege.edu). The printed schedule is
