OCC’S WIND ENSEMBLE TO PERFORM CHRISTMAS FAVORITES WEDNESDAY EVENING DURING FREE PUBLIC CONCERT

Orange Coast College's Wind Ensemble will perform Christmas favorites Wednesday evening (Dec. 14) in the Student Center.

The 90-minute concert, which begins at 6:30 p.m., is free to the public.

The 55-member ensemble is under the direction of OCC music professor, Dana Wheaton.

The ensemble will offer Paul Jennings' "Season Greetings"; "A Canadian Brass Christmas Suite," adapted by Calvin Custer; "Greensleeves," arranged by Alfred Reed; "Christmas Joy," arranged by Sammy Nestico; J.S. Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring"; "A Christmas Portrait," arranged by Jerry Nowak; Calvin Custer's "A Fresh Aire Christmas"; Larry Clark's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"; Sammy Nestico's "A Fireside Christmas"; and Leroy Anderson's "A Christmas Festival" and "Sleigh Ride."

OCC's Wind Ensemble rehearses Wednesday evenings throughout the year from 6:30-9:45 p.m. Persons wishing to join the ensemble must enroll in the college's one-unit class, Music 132AD.

Spring semester classes begin on Monday, Jan. 30, 2006.
