OCC Tops in Orange County, 2nd in California, in Transfers to 4-Year Universities

Orange Coast College continues to reign as the Orange County's top transfer school to California public universities, according recently released figures by the California Postsecondary Education Commission.
Orange Coast College sent 1,874 students to public four-year colleges and universities in 2007-2008, more than any other community college in Orange County. OCC was in second place statewide behind Santa Monica College, which sent 2,111 students to the four-year campuses.
The Commission ranked California's 109 community colleges by the number of students who transferred to both California State University and University of California institutions.
Among Orange County colleges, Fullerton College, with 1,550 transfers, and Saddleback College, at 1,132 transfers, joined OCC among top 25 transfer schools statewide.
When looking only at transfers to the California State University system, Fullerton College edged OCC by 44 students. OCC sent 1,345 students to California State University campuses compared to Fullerton's 1,389 tally.
Orange Coast College led Orange County community colleges in the number of transfers to University of California with 529 transfers. Other Orange County colleges in the top 25 in transfers to UC campuses include Saddleback College, ranked 12th with 302 transfers, and Irvine Valley College, ranked 19th with 217 transfers. Fullerton College was 26th with 161 transfers.
