OCC'S ART DEPARTMENT OFFERS SPRING CERAMICS COURSE
Thursday, December 11, 2003

A beginning ceramics course that focuses on basic pottery forms will be offered this spring by Orange Coast College's Art Department.

Spring semester classes begin on Monday, Feb. 2.

Listed as Art 150 in OCC's schedule, five sections of the class are slated. They meet mornings, afternoons and evenings.

The three-unit course teaches hand-building techniques, and introduces students to the sculptural and three-dimensional use of clay. The class explores traditional pottery forms. Students study the main directions of contemporary ceramics, and are introduced to firing and glazing.

Basic techniques are offered in raku, earthenware, stoneware and porcelain.
The course is fully transferable to the University of California and California State University systems.

Spring registration is under way, and registration appointments are available in OCC's Admissions Office. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

OCC's spring enrollment fees are $18 per unit. The spring schedule is listed on the college's Internet web page (orangecoastcollege.com). The printed schedule is available in the Admissions Office.
