SPRING CLASSES AT OCC'S MIDDLE COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL GET UNDER WAY ON TUESDAY, JAN. 13
Friday, December 12, 2003

Spring classes at Orange Coast College's Middle College High School will get under way on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

OCC's spring semester begins on Monday, Feb. 2.

The Middle College High School has been operating for eight years on OCC's 164-acre campus. MCHS spring semester classes will conclude on Thursday, June 3. The school's sixth graduation ceremony will be held that afternoon.

The Middle College High School is designed for high-potential, underachieving high school juniors and seniors. It's a collaborative effort between OCC and the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. More than 60 high school juniors and seniors are enrolled this year.

"The school is geared specifically for students who, for a variety of reasons, are not performing up to their full potential in a traditional high school setting," says school principal, Bob Nanney.

"We offer a small-school environment, with all the classes necessary for students to
earn their high school diploma. Our students are also eligible to enroll concurrently in Orange Coast College credit courses."
