OCC SPRING COURSE LOOKS AT AMERICAN INSTITUTIONS
Monday, December 15, 2003

A three-unit course that surveys selected political, social, economic and cultural institutions of the United States and California will be offered this spring by Orange Coast College's American Studies Department.

Spring semester classes begin on Monday, Feb. 2.

Listed as American Studies 100 in OCC's schedule, three sections of the course are slated. One meets Monday evenings, from 6:30-9:40 p.m.; a second is set for Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, from 12:45-2:10 p.m.; and the third meets Friday mornings, from 8-11:10 a.m.

The course will examine America's political party system and the "American national character," and will evaluate the role of the media in the U.S. The course is transferable to the University of California and California State University systems.

Spring registration is under way, and registration appointments are available in OCC's Admissions Office. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
