OCC'S SCHOOL OF SAILING AND SEAMANSHIP OFFERS BASIC MARINE WEATHER CLASSA six-week class that focuses on the fundamentals of basic meteorology will be offered this winter by Orange Coast College's School of Sailing and Seamanship.

Titled "Marine Weather I," the non-credit class meets Thursday evenings, Jan. 15, 22, 29, Feb. 5, 12 and 19, from 7-9 p.m. at OCC's Sailing Center in Newport Beach. Registration fee is $75.
The course explores the driving forces of weather, the characteristics and movement of high and low pressure systems, associated fronts, and cloud formation. Students will also examine important local phenomena such as fog, Santa Ana winds and unique geographic effects.
OCC's Sailing Center is located at 1801 W. Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach, between the Balboa Bay Club and the Orange County Sea Scout Base.
