A four-unit course that teaches basic rules of furniture design and production will be offered this spring by Orange Coast College's Construction Technology Department.
Spring semester classes begin on Monday, Jan. 29.
Listed as Construction Technology 116AD in OCC's schedule, two sections of the course are slated. One meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 8:30-11:40 a.m., and the other is set for the same evenings, from 6-9:10 p.m.
The course emphasizes wood selection, hand tool use, and woodworking machinery. Advanced students will design more sophisticated furniture pieces using advanced techniques. It is fully transferable to the California State University system.
Spring registration is under way, and registration appointments are available in
OCC's Enrollment Center in Watson Hall. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
OCC's spring enrollment fees are $20 per unit. The spring schedule is listed on the college's Internet web page (orangecoastcollege.edu). The printed schedule is available in the Admissions Office.
