Orange Coast College's School of Sailing and Seamanship has scheduled a non credit beginning sailing class that meets during the months of February and March.

The four-week class meets Friday afternoons, Feb. 7, 14, 21 and 28, from 1-5 p.m. at OCC's Sailing Center in Newport Beach. Registration fee is $99.

Visa and MasterCard holders may register by phone.

OCC's Sailing Center is located at 1801 W. Pacific Coast Highway, between the Balboa Bay Club and Orange County Sea Scout Base.

The classes are geared for persons who have never sailed before or those with limited experience sailing with others. Through lectures and on-the-water practice in Lido 14 dinghies, students will learn the basics of sailing. Classes focus on sailing terminology, rigging, safety, docking, under sail operations, tacking, jibing, and the five points of sail.

Eighty percent of class time will be spent sailing the Lidos within Newport Harbor.
