A basic course in engine lathe operation will be offered this spring by Orange Coast College's Machine Technology Department.
Spring semester classes begin on Monday, Jan. 30.
Listed as Machine Technology 105 in OCC's schedule, the five-unit course meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 6-10 p.m.
The course covers ID and OD threading, knurling, boring, turning, facing, and cutting tapers. Students are also exposed to the chucker lathe, tracer lathe and turret lathe. Safety and measurement are emphasized.
The course is fully transferable to the California State University system.
Spring registration is under way, and registration appointments are available in OCC's Admissions Office. The office is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to
6:30 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
OCC's spring enrollment fees are $26 per unit. The spring schedule is listed on the college's Internet web page (orangecoastcollege.edu). The printed schedule is
