Glen Profeta, Director of Applications and Infrastructure in OCC’s Information Technology, is the new director for Project Endeavor, a district-wide effort to consolidate Exchange mail servers and SharePoint operations. Profeta made the move to District offices at the beginning of January.

The Orange Coast College men's and women's basketball teams are continuing their fight against cancer by hosting their annual Coaches vs. Cancer Night, slated for Friday night against Saddleback College. The OCC men take on the Gauchos at 5:30 p.m., followed by the OCC women's matchup against Saddleback at 7:30 p.m.

SENIOR DAY RECRUITS VOLUNTEERS FOR FEBRUARY 26
Faculty and staff members will have an opportunity to volunteer for Senior Day on Tuesday, February 26th.

A variety of volunteer opportunities will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., including handing out T-shirts, greeting buses, staffing information tables, working at the BBQ and ushering the theatre presentations.

OCC'S KOLBY KEO TO REPRESENT STUDENTS ON CCCD BOARD
Kolby KeoOCC student leader Kolby Keo is the newest member of Coast Community College District’s Board of Trustees. He will represent students from all three campuses as a nonvoting member of the board.

Keo began his studies at OCC in the fall of 2011 and was soon elected to the Student Senate and served on various international and multicultural education committees. Most recently he was President of student government at OCC (SGOCC).

Three new exhibits opened at campus photo galleries this week.

“Underage” by Ohm Phaniphiroj is on display in the Art Center Gallery through March 12th. “Our First Year Together” by Christine Shank can be viewed through March 12th in the Fine Arts Gallery. The work of OCC alumnus Amanda Brian is in the Student Gallery in the Fine Arts Building Photo Lab through February 18th.

Award-winning interior designer Cynthia Leibrock will show slides of her Colorado home at on Friday, February 8th from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Bio Science 200. Admission is free, and OCC students, faculty and staff are invited to attend. Her residence has been featured the cover of “The New York Times.”

The OCC Athletic and Honors Alliance will host a President’s Day 5K Run/Walk on Monday, February 18th. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. on the OCC campus, and is open to adults and kids who want to compete by running, walking or in wheelchairs. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers.

Tom Dowling artworkOCC professor of art Tom Dowling is exhibiting recent small paintings and constructions in a solo show, “Insider Information,” at Brett Rubbico Gallery in Newport Beach through March 2nd. The work celebrates an affinity with architecture by capturing a mood that holds the attentive viewer. Further study of the subtle shifts in perspective reveals new thoughts and ideas, providing a platform for the work to expand beyond its physical boundaries.
