4,000 HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS VISIT CAMPUS FOR SENIOR DAY
Thursday, March 13, 2014

More than 4,000 high school seniors visited campus on Tuesday, and faculty and staff report that the event was a resounding success. More than 53 buses filled with students from nearby high schools ferried some 2,000 students to campus, while other students arrived on their own.

“There was a lot of participation from all different departments and services,” reported Heather Codding, a Communications and Marketing assistant who was responsible for organizing the event.

Jose Costas’ dance students performed for the first two information sessions in the Robert B. Moore Theatre, while the OCC Cheer & Dance Team provided entertainment the final two information meetings.

Senior Day is designed to give high school seniors an opportunity to visit campus and get information about the college’s academic and career opportunities. Departments staff tables on the Quad, and athletics and clubs also have a chance to introduce themselves to prospective students.

OCC introduced Senior Day 31 years ago, and now it has become an annual tradition.
