FORMER OCC STUDENT PUBLISHES NEW BOOK
Thursday, July 17, 2014

“Bloom,” a new book written by past OCC student Carmindy, is geared to young girls just starting out on doing a beauty regiment. This will be the fourth book written by Carmindy, who was the makeup artist from the popular television show, “What Not to Wear.”

Carmindy took makeup classes from OCC theatre instructor, David Scaglione, in the early 1990s. “She was an amazing student, you could see that she had a great talent and aptitude for makeup,” Scaglione said. “Plus, she possesses a great personality. She treats everyone with respect and courtesy, and that comes across in her TLC show."”

Scaglione was so confident in Carmindy’s ability as a student that when presidential candidate, Bill Clinton, came to OCC's campus in 1993 to do a live national television feed, she did his makeup.

“Carmindy took her only makeup classes at Orange Coast College and then went out into the world and gained a wealth of knowledge by working in the ‘real world' of print and television. Today she is one of the finest makeup artists in the business.”

Carmindy’s work can be seen on the editorial pages of such leading magazines as Cosmopolitan, Elle, InStyle, Essence, Seventeen and Glamour. Her clients include Maybelline, Sephora, Clairol, Avon, CoverGirl, Almay, and Bath and Body Works.

Carmindy was the resident makeup expert on the TLC makeover show What Not to Wear. Her work can be seen on the editorial pages of leading magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Elle, InStyle, O, Essence, Self, Lucky, Seventeen, Marie Claire, Glamour, and Allure.
